To protect myself and my business please read below some basic terms and conditions I expect my students to understand and to adhere to. A copy of these terms and conditions will be given to new students on their first lesson. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me to discuss.
Qualification – I am a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor, authorised by the DVSA to provide driving tuition.
Data protection – I will take basic details of students on their first lesson. These details will be kept securely by myself, and no one else will be given access to them, unless asked to do so by law. After the student finishes using my service, they are entitled to take their documents, or I will destroy them.
CCTV – my car is fitted with high definition outward facing forward and rear cameras that record sound. These cameras are there to protect myself, my students and other members of public. Should I use any recordings for the purpose of training, then sound will be removed from the clips. The identity of students will never be exposed, unless prior permission is granted. Whilst my car is used on DVSA tests, sound cannot be recorded.
Behaviour – I will always conduct myself in a professional friendly manner, and expect the same behaviour back from my students. If the students behaviour is deemed unacceptable by myself, then the lesson will be terminated immediately. I will always present myself, and my car in a clean tidy manner. I expect my students to respect this, and for them to ensure my car interior is left how it is found.
Eye sight check – I will carry out an eye sight check on the first lesson to ensure the student can read a number plate at the required distance set by the DVSA. It's the student's responsibility to ensure this standard is maintained over the duration of lessons, up until they take their test.
Medication – it's the student's responsibility to make me aware of any medication that they are taking that could affect their ability to drive. Students are always responsible for making me aware of any medical history that is relevant to driving, and update me with any changes should they occur over the period that they are taking lessons with me.
Alcohol and drugs – students should be in a state that allows them to drive legally. Should I sense that the student is under the influence of any alcohol or drugs, then the lesson will not go ahead, but will be charged, and any future lessons will be cancelled.
Smoking – my car is strictly a smoke free car, and under no circumstances can smoking take place within the car. Should a student wish to smoke during a lesson, they can do this away from the car within lesson time.
Food and drink – food can not be eaten in my car with the exception of sweets excluding chewing gum. Water based drinks are allowed to be brought into the car, and consumed during lessons.
Payment – payment must be made to confirm an appointment within my diary – failure to pay in advance will not confirm an appointment, and will remain open for other students to book. As long as the student has paid, they can book as many lessons as they want in advance (up to a maximum of 3 months). Once a block booking has been made, then the lessons are to be used within 3 months.
Pricing – I price my lessons to fall within standard rates of the area. Should I increase or decrease my prices, then as much notice as possible will be given to students.
Cancellations of lessons – 48 hours' notice must be given, otherwise the lesson will be charged. Should I be unwell or unable to carry out (breakdown, accident, adverse weather) a planned lesson, then no charge will be made, and I will reschedule the lesson at my earliest opportunity.
Lesson Priority – students that have a test imminent take priority in booking lessons in my diary. This treatment is given to all students when approaching tests.
On time - every effort will be made by myself to arrive at a lesson on time, but due to the nature of the job (traffic/roadworks), I may sometimes be late. If I am late, then the time will definitely be made up at the end of the lesson if my diary allows, or at the beginning/end of a future lesson. Should a student be late, then I will wait a maximum of 15 minutes before the lesson is cancelled.
Footwear – I expect students to wear suitable footwear for driving. Flip flops, high heels and heavy work boots are not suitable. Should the student turn up wearing inappropriate footwear, then the lesson will be cancelled, and charged. Heavily soiled shoes are also deemed unacceptable.
Tests – I have the right to withdraw the use of my car for students' tests, should I feel the student is not at the required test standard. Any charge incurred to the student will not be refunded by myself. Should a student wish to use a friends or family car for the purpose of test, then it is their responsibility to ensure it reaches the required standard for the purpose of a driving test – please see www.gov.uk website for guidance. Should a test be cancelled by the DVSA, then I can not be held responsible, and the charge of my time will remain.
